I am a long time client of Dr B at CAWC but have moved out of the area. When my small dog got sick I was consulting other vets in my area but they could not tell me what was wrong with her and just wanted to do test after test and procedure after procedure that were costing me a lot of money. I called CAWC and was able to set up an appointment that day for her to be seen by Dr B. Despite the travel involved I knew it was the right decision when he did the consult, told me what he felt was wrong (without the $ spent on unnecessary tests), prescribed medications, and now 2 weeks later you would never know she had been sick. I won't hesitate to make the trip next time especially when it is so good to see him, kind of like visiting an old friend.

Companion Animal wellness center is absolutely the best veterinarian in North County. Dr. B and Dr. V are truly Gifts to animals. Their staff is absolutely wonderful knowledgeable and we wouldn’t take our baby anywhere but Companion..

1/15/26: Updating this review to say we have had two more vet tech visits for blood draws and vaccinations that went smoothly. We really appreciate this team’s expertise in handling nervous dogs. Tracy was our tech yesterday and had Brie in her lap and was getting the backwards hug from Brie in no time. Bless you guys for being the better way. Brie is getting more comfy with each visit. We transferred care for our one year old Aussie, Brie, to this practice and have had two “happy” visits plus a consultation with Dr. Bausone. First we have to thank Janine, Vanessa, Dr. Bausone, and the rest of the staff for giving our girl and us their time, understanding, valuable information, help and hope; and for demonstrating what “fear free” handling is. They were so patient and welcoming. We sought out this change because our Aussie had developed an extreme anxiety and fear of being handled at our old vet’s office, but wasn’t showing this level of anxiety anywhere else. Just these three visits at Companion Animal Wellness allowed Brie to make friends with the staff (she truly tried to turn around and go back in on our second visit) and become super comfortable in their presence. Time will tell if she will still need sedation to be handled for more serious vet care in the future, but Dr. Bausone gave us some natural preparations to use in advance to hopefully avoid the serious sedation. I sincerely doubt we will see anything like the terror that we had as Dr. Bausone and staff did a brilliant job at earning her trust and making friends. I am confident that if this practice needs me to sedate her in the future, it truly will be necessary and I will be satisfied that it will be despite the very best efforts out there. If you are looking for a fear free practice for your pet, I highly recommend the angels who work at Companion Animal Wellness.

The staff here is excellent. They are friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Me and my pets love going there and receive the best service ever! One dog in particular is in Physical Therapy and she is thriving!

This is one of the cleanest, nicest, animal hospitals I've been to in a long time. They had an air cleaner in the room and those are small details I notice and matter to me. Dr. B had excellent bedside manner, answered all my questions, and my dog loved him. The staff was wonderful too. Highly recommend!

Dr. Lockwood and Co are hands down the best veterinary team we have ever used. Vet visits were always a nightmare before we were referred here and I it is so relieving to have access to such a professional team. If you are searching for a vet or unsatisfied with the one you have - this is your sign.

I had a great first experience with this clinic. Everyone was super helpful and kind. They went out of their way to make my dog feel comfortable. Vet was thorough in her examination and came up with a comprehensive plan of attack. I walked in worried and anxious. I walked out with a plan and full of hope.

The staff of Companion Animal Wellness are superb. They truly care about my dog, Scout. They’re very patient with her and they listen to my concerns. Dr. Bausoni is an extremely capable vet whom I trust with my dog, completely.

The care we received at this facility - from our first phone call to visit - was nothing short of amazing. They got us in within less than 24 hours, as we were dealing with an emergent situation. Dr. Vicario and Hailey spent over an hour with us devising an aggressive treatment plan for our sweet baby girl. The love, patience, care, and empathy we’ve received from this facility is indescribable. Additionally, both of our girls LOVED this facility! I’ve never seen either of them so excited to be at a vet’s office. We’ve now made these doctors our primary care vet for both of our girls. God bless this center!

Kind and compassionate. I'm here regularly with my own dogs and I'm frequently here when friends have needed extra support with their pets. It's very rare to find a practice that doesn't push unnecessary treatment.

I have been to a few so called Fear Free hospitals I my time. None of them lived up to anything close to Fear Free. Companion Animal Wellness Center far exceeded my expectations. As some one who is Fear Free certified , I know what it means to take the animal and the guardian into consideration for their emotional heath and well-being. They listened to me on how to approach my fear reactive Rottie and Leela relaxed within minutes doing tricks with a very wagging little nub. They also did as they said and contacted me about the lab work without me having to call them, im an email and by phone, all before noon. Their medical team was thorough and very gentle explaining and answering my questions without judgement. I highly recommend this hospital.

The best! Dr. Tancioni performed surgery on my guinea pig due to a large mass on the side of his face. The recovery was fast and his incision healed fantastically. Now he's back to his old self again. She showed such compassion and took time out of her day to call me several times asking about his well-being during recovery. Me and Zoom would like to thank you for being an awesome Vet to us.

We love CAWC! I was looking for a vet that practiced both traditional and holistic medicine and thankfully came across this vet clinic. Our dogs, specifically our Boston Terrier, love going in here(the liver treats are his favorite). We’ve see Dr Vicario, Dr. Pei, and Dr. Lockwood and all have been amazing with our boys. Love that they don’t push prescription medications and they use holistic medications when appropriate.

The doctors and staff are fantastic. They make a great effort to remember and get to know your pet. I don’t live close to their location but the drive is worth it knowing the excellent care my pet gets here.
